Meet Deborah

A widely respected Resilience and Development expert, Deborah Gilboa, MD, works with CEOs, corporations, and various organizations on strengthening teams, businesses and mindsets. Her goal is to teach us not to simply cope, but thrive, through dealing with change and stress. Her message is straightforward and essential:  Do stress better. Be resilient. 

Dr. Deborah Gilboa started her career as stage manager at Carnegie Mellon and later segued from an early career in stage management at The Second City Improv Group (and a brief run as a performer on stage, including in Gilligan’s Island: The Musical) to a media personality fondly known as “Dr. G.” As a practicing physician; a resilience, parenting and youth development expert; an author; and a frequent on-air personality, Dr. G works with individuals, organizations, and businesses to identify the mindset and strategies to transform stress into a tool that builds mental health. 

Her humor, straight talk, and practical strategies captivate audiences. Dr. G’s credibility and decades of experience as a physician give participants strength to make real change. An international, in-demand keynote speaker, Dr. G inspires audiences with her illuminating stories and proven strategies to create resilience through personal accountability. She has a totally different approach to adversity and works with groups, businesses, and causes, across multiple generations, to rewire their cultures towards a common objective. She addresses audiences of all ages with humor, candor and actionable, best practices to handle stress better.

The Chicago native also worked at theaters across the country, including Deaf West Theater in Los Angeles. The experience was defining for her. She became fluent in American Sign Language and her work with the Deaf community has received national recognition and was the focus of her service as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow. 

After graduating from the  University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine and completing her residency, Deborah Gilboa, MD returned to Pittsburgh as a practicing family physician. She joined the staff of the Squirrel Hill Health Center.  While also serving as a Clinical Associate Professor for the University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, she has received many awards for clinical excellence in teaching, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award.

A regular guest on TODAY, Good Morning America, The Rachael Ray Show, and Pittsburgh Today Live, featured in prominent publications including The Washington Post, The New York Times, Real Simple, and the Wall Street Journal, author of the acclaimed From Stressed to Resilient: The Guide to Handle More and Feel It Less, Dr. G  has developed a comprehensive, actionable system for building resilient teams, businesses and mindsets.  P&G, Alianz, Citizen Bank, Unilever, Sears Holdings, The US Army War College, Tupperware, JCC Weinstein are some of the prominent organizations that have benefited from her consulting and training expertise.

She lives in Pittsburgh with her four boys.
